The national model codes improve with each edition thanks to the contributions of inspectors, designers, suppliers, contractors, researchers, instructors, and others. Every change request is reviewed by a standing committee.
Typical changes:
- accommodate new construction techniques and systems,
- clarify requirements, or
- update references to standards.
Do you have a suggestion to improve one of the Codes? You have two options for submitting your change
request:
- On-line Option
Read the detailed guidelines, and for each change request, submit a separate Code Change Request form on-line.
- Download Option
Download the guidelines and Code Change Request form in
PDF or
MS-Word format, then
e-mail, fax, or mail the form(s) to the Canadian
Codes Centre.
Your change request will be considered for the post-2010 editions of the Codes and should include:
- the existing Code requirement, if applicable,
- the reasons for the change or addition,
- your proposed revision or new requirement,
- any supporting documentation, including cost/benefit data,
- the enforcement implications, and
- the related Code objectives.
