CCC staff provide opinions based on the intent of the standing committee responsible for writing the requirement.
CCC staff do not advise on whether a specific design, construction material or system conforms to a Code. This decision is the responsibility of the provincial, territorial or municipal authority.
CCC staff do not advise on the content of standards or other documents referenced in the codes. These documents are the responsibility of the standards development organizations.
CCC staff opinions should not be considered as official interpretations of legislated requirements based on the National Model Codes. The final responsibility for an official interpretation rests with the authority having jurisdiction.
|
The Canadian Codes Centre (CCC) provide opinions only on the requirements in the Model National Codes.
Most provinces and territories adopt or adapt the
Model National Building, Plumbing, Fire, and Farm Building Codes. Provincial and territorial
governments modify, interpret and enforce the codes. The authorities having jurisdiction normally
delegate responsibility to the building, plumbing and fire officials employed by your local
municipality.
For an opinion from one of the CCC's technical advisors, complete and submit the Inquiry Form below.
