Updates to Referenced Documents

As with the National Model Codes, the content of the documents referenced in the Codes is regularly updated and published. In order to remain current, the policy of the National Research Council Canada and the CCBFC is to reference the latest editions of these documents.

Code users and stakeholders are asked to review proposed updates to the tables of referenced documents in the 2005 NBC, NFC and NPC. The updates pertain only to documents currently referenced in the tables of the 2005 Codes. New documents proposed for referencing in the Codes are covered by proposed technical changes submitted to the 2007 and 2008 public reviews.

If the Issuing Agency, Document Number or Title of a document has changed, the entire existing entry is crossed out and highlighted in yellow, and the changed portion of the information is highlighted in blue in the entry directly below or in the appropriate location in the table.

Note that what has been modified in the referenced document, or how it has been modified, is not identified in the tables, nor are the referenced documents provided. It is up to Code users and stakeholders to research these changes and provide relevant comments. The goal of the public review on updates to referenced documents is to determine if there are objections to the proposed changes.

All comments submitted by October 30, 2009 will be reviewed by the relevant CCBFC standing committees. The standing committees will then either withdraw the change to the referenced document, recommend that it be reviewed further for future consideration as an update, or recommend that it be approved by the CCBFC.

If approved by the CCBFC in February 2010, these changes will update the documents referenced in Table 1.3.1.2. of Division B and/or Table A-1.3.1.2.(1) of Appendix A of Division B, for each of the 2005 NBC, NFC and NPC, as well as Table D-1.1.2. of the 2005 NBC. The revised tables will be published in the 2010 NBC, NFC and NPC, which are scheduled to be released in November 2010.
